Methods

Description of data capture

Participants were clients who attended one of 12 community based sexual and reproductive health centres in Zimbabwe as part of the CHIEDZA cluster-randomised trial. Eligibility criteria for attending the centre were living in the local area and age 16-24. Eligibility criteria for this substudy were HIV diagnosis, either self-reported by the client or from a blood test or OMT test administered at CHIEDZA. Research assistants collected data on electronic tablets and recorded a fingerprint ID using SIMPRINTS. Viral load and CD4 results were collected on paper case report forms and entered into a purpose-built database by data clerks.
