The dataset contains information on 1539 young people aged 16-24 who were either diagnosed HIV positive or self-reported as HIV positive at a CHIEDZA community-based sexual and reproductive health centre in urban and peri-urban Zimbabwe. It reports on the care cascade including linkage to care, initiation of antiretroviral therapy, viral load testing, and viral suppression.

Description of data capture	Participants were clients who attended one of 12 community based sexual and reproductive health centres in Zimbabwe as part of the CHIEDZA cluster-randomised trial. Eligibility criteria for attending the centre were living in the local area and age 16-24. Eligibility criteria for this substudy were HIV diagnosis, either self-reported by the client or from a blood test or OMT test administered at CHIEDZA. Research assistants collected data on electronic tablets and recorded a fingerprint ID using SIMPRINTS. Viral load and CD4 results were collected on paper case report forms and entered into a purpose-built database by data clerks.
