Methods

Description of data capture

All data were collected on paper and transferred to EPIDATA. The primary outcome was mortality at 30 days. Multiple phone numbers were obtained from each patient who was discharged alive from the hospital in order to verify the patient’s vital status (alive or dead) at 30 days.
