A quantitative dataset that contains information for estimating the HIV prevalence in a health and demographic surveillance system (HDSS) cohort. The data were collected from a serological survey of the residents within the Kisesa health and demographic surveillance system in 2016. All participants were asked questions from a questionnaire and for a blood sample which was tested for HIV within 10 minutes of collection. HDSS residents that did not attend the serological survey had data on their age and sex, but do not have measurements (missing data) for the questionnaire and for the HIV test result.
