Description
Data collected as part of a mixed-methods study to explore parents’ and guardians’ views and experiences of accessing National Health Service (NHS) general practices for routine childhood vaccinations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in England. Participants reported they were aged 16 years or older, the parent or guardian of one or more children aged 18 months or under, and lived in England. The collection consists of: [1] A tabular dataset containing survey responses provided by 1252 parents and guardians. The dataset contains information on participants’ likelihood to accept/keep/initiate vaccination appointments during the pandemic, their knowledge and beliefs regarding routine childhood vaccinations during the pandemic, and their experience of accessing routine childhood vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic; [2] Transcripts of 19 follow-up interviews that provide greater insight into participant views; and [3] Research instruments (interview guides, survey forms) used for data capture.

Description of data capture | The study used a multi-methods approach to explore parents’ and guardians’ views and experiences of accessing National Health Service (NHS) general practices for routine childhood vaccinations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in England. First, an online cross-sectional survey was conducted between April 19th and May 11th 2020. The survey was targeted at parents and guardians who were aged 16+ years, lived in England, with a child aged 18 months or under. The survey consisted of four main sections: 1) demographics, 2) likelihood to accept, keep, and/or initiate a vaccination appointment during the COVID-19 pandemic, 3) knowledge and beliefs regarding routine childhood vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 4) experiences of accessing routine childhood vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, 1,252 responses were received, which are contained within the tabular dataset. Second, telephone-based follow-up interviews were performed with nineteen survey respondents. The semi-structured interviews were used to obtain greater insight into respondents’ views on the research topic. | ||||||||
