Description
Quantitative survey data collected as part of the MENISCUS trial. This dataset was used for the results in the manuscript 'Effects of a multi-component menstrual health intervention (MENISCUS) on menstrual health, mental health problems, and educational performance in Ugandan secondary schools: a school-based cluster randomised controlled trial'. It is a wide dataset including data from both the baseline and endline surveys in male and female participants.
Description of data capture | We conducted the baseline survey immediately prior to randomisation in March 2022 and the endline survey one year after randomisation in June 2023. All surveys were self-completed by participants on tablets in a classroom at their school. Female students who newly enrolled in a trial school during the intervention year completed a brief demographic survey at the time of recruitment, prior to the endline survey. Participants who completed the baseline survey after intervention delivery began were not included in the baseline population. The bespoke educational assessments were developed by UNEB staff, and administered to female participants over two days following standard national examination procedures. Scores for each subject were double-entered into a secure database, shared with the research team, and linked to trial participants’ IDs by the data manager (RB) using school, name, and date of birth. | ||||
