Dataset for: Improving HPV Vaccine Uptake Among Girls Aged 9–14 Years in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria: A Community-Participatory Pre/Post-Intervention Study
This dataset supports the findings of a pre/post-intervention study evaluating the effect of a community-participatory, multi-channel sensitisation campaign on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake among girls aged 9–14 years in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Data were collected from 686 caregivers across six communities in three local government areas (Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, and Okobo) at two time points: a pre-intervention survey (January 2025, n=331) and a post-intervention survey (June 2025, n=355). The dataset covers HPV and cervical cancer awareness, vaccine knowledge, vaccine uptake status, barriers to vaccination, willingness to vaccinate, community perceptions, and general vaccination attitudes. The file contains a Data Dictionary sheet describing all variables, coding schemes, and notes on derived and corrected variables, including the recalculated vaccine knowledge score. This study was funded by the RSTMH Early Career Grant 2024 and received ethical approval from the Health Research Ethics Committee of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
