A quantitative dataset outlining distribution and viability of ocular and non-ocular Chlamydia trachomatis in households in a trachoma-endemic community in Oromia, Ethiopia. Data was collected as part of a two time point, pre covid study of Chlamydia trachomatis transmission study. This study used reverse transcription PCR to identify viable infection from non-viable infection. It also described the role of faces and hands in the transmission of trachoma and the importance of targeted intervention of facial and hand hygiene.
