<note>Data made available in ACT Consortium repository between 2018 and 2024 at https://actc.lshtm.ac.uk/journal_articles/view/102.</note>
Dataset containing details of the intended number of Artemether-lumefantrine (AL) treatments given to 482 Tanzanian patients. Variables include the number of doses appropriate to each person, start time when the blister pack was first opened, and the relative time that doses 1-23 were subsequently allocated, relative to the start time. Data were captured using smart blister packs of artemether-lumefantrine (AL). These blister packs looked identical to locally available AL (Coartem) but contained a microchip that recorded a time stamp when each tablet of AL was removed from the blister pack.

<collection_method>Smart blister packs (SBPs) were assembled in Tanzania by folding specially designed wallet cards for each of four age/weight groups around blister packs of AL and sealing adhesively. SBPs were activated prior to the study using a portable scanning device and distributed to health facilities and drug shops in Mtwara region. Patients obtained blister packs of AL at public health facilities and private drug shops (ADDOs). Three days later (day 4) patients were visited at home for interview and collection of SBPs. Patients were informed of the study objectives and special nature of the blister packs before providing consent for collection of SBPs. Collected SBPs were scanned to retrieve time stamp data.</collection_method>
