<note>The research is based upon an analysis of in-depth interviews conducted with a small sample of adolescent girls and caregivers. These transcripts cover topics that are considered sensitive by participants and contain context-specific information that would enable them to be identified if transcripts were made available in their entirety. To safeguard the confidentiality and welfare of the individuals interviewed, we are therefore only able to share excerpts of anonymised transcripts that underpin the conclusions drawn in our manuscript. These excerpts may be requested for use in ethically approved research via the request form.</note>
A set of in-depth interview transcripts from 85 participants: 29 adolescent girls aged 12-16 years, 30 of their male caregivers and 26 of their female caregivers. Of these, 162 transcripts are longitudinal, coming from 23 adolescent girls, 18 male caregivers and 18 female caregivers at baseline and endline. A sub-sample of participants also have midline data. Additionally, there are 6 transcripts that cover 1 adolescent girls and 2 male caregivers at baseline and midline, as well as 23 baseline-only transcripts from 5 adolescent girls, 10 male caregivers and 3 8 female caregivers. Interviewees gave informed consent to participate in an exploratory, quasi-experimental evaluation of the Learning Initiative on Norms, Exploitation and Abuse (LINEA) radio drama intervention to prevent age-disparate transactional sex in Shinyanga region, Tanzania between August and December 2021. In-depth interviews were conducted at three timepoints, corresponding to baseline, midline and endline of intervention implementation. The interviews contain information on gender norms, experiences with age-disparate transactional sex, social norms, attitudes and beliefs linked to age-disparate transactional sex, perceptions of and experiences with the radio drama and discussion session interventions, girl’s experiences during COVID-19 related school closures, and goals and aspirations for the future.
