Data collected during a HIV self-testing study nested within four intervention communities in the HPTN 071 (PopART) trial. The data are aggregated by community ID, whether geographical zones (the clusters for the HIV self-testing trial) within the community were in the HIV self-testing intervention, sex, age group, prior residence in the community and how individuals learnt their HIV status.
The “3ie_hivst_aggregate_data” includes the primary outcome variable knows_hiv_status, and secondary outcome variables accepted testing and participated. There are “derived” variables in the data, by “derived” we mean variables that have been developed based on the values of original variables, and mostly using information from >1 original variable.
Data submitted to the LSHTM repository for the purpose of preservation. Limited access may be permitted for the purpose of research verification only. New research using the data will require ethical approval from all relevant ethics committees. Access requests will be evaluated by a data committee comprised of study team members, with additional guidance provided by institutional ethics and legal experts.
