Description

Data set containing details of 654 fisherfolk living on the shores of Lake Victoria who were enrolled in an open cohort vaccine preparedness study in Masaka Uganda. They visited the study clinic quarterly to have HIV counselling and testing for a period of two years. At baseline, socio-demographic and HIV risk behaviour data was collected. During follow-up data HIV risk behaviour data was collected every 6 months. Volunteers who did not return for two consecutive visits and those who seroconverted were discontinued from the study.

Data access conditions

The IAVI dataset is made available in two forms:

  1. A fully anonymised dataset that is made openly available.
  1. A fuller dataset that contains additional information on religion, dem_tribe, visdate1 & visdate99, and illicit drug use. This dataset may be used for ethically approved research only, due to the sensitivity of the information and the potential harm if participants were re-identified. Researchers are required to complete an application form and sign a data transfer agreement prior to being provided with the data.
