Description

An anonymised dataset of 140 pharmacy attendants who gave informed consent to participate in this KAP survey in Mbarara, Uganda between June 2021 – June 2021. Dataset contains variables on knowledge on eye diseases, number of patients with eye diseases presenting for treatment at the pharmacies and drug shops, and management of eye diseases including suspected corneal infections.

Data collection methods

We used structured questionnaires that were administered by trained research assistants who were nurses.

Data analysis and preparation

The data was entered into a Microsoft Access database and imported into STATA 16 for analysis. Only participant identification numbers were entered in the Microsoft Access alongside the data.

Quality controls

Before data collection, the research assistants underwent training on how to collect the data in this study.

Population

The study participants consisted of pharmacy attendants working in the pharmacies and drug shops located Mbarara City. The cadres of pharmacy attendants included pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, registered nurses, and enrolled nurses.

Privacy

Participant information, such as names, addresses, and contact details have been removed.
