Description

Data collected as part of a self-reported survey on sexual behaviour and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. The cross-sectional survey was conducted with adolescents and young people aged 15 to 24 in two communities of Lusaka, Zambia at the time of a census completed in 2019.

Data collection methods

Data collected using cross sectional survey.

Data analysis and preparation

Restricting data to variables included in the analysis; renaming variables and labelling; deriving some variables from the raw data (for example, age grouped into two categories and educational attainment derived from variable on highest level of education completed).

Geographic regions

Lusaka, Zambia.

The Yathu Yathu endline cross-sectional survey was conducted between April to November 2021

Quality controls

The data were designed with checks for completeness, range checks, cross-referencing checks and consistency checks.

Population

People aged 15 to 24 in two communities of Lusaka, Zambia.

Privacy

We protected the confidentiality of personal and/or sensitive information by adopting several strategies, including (i) training research team members (research assistants) on strategies for protecting confidentiality, and (ii) ensuring participant identifiers were removed from the data; for example, each row has a unique ID for the individual; other potentially identifiable information – including age and education – are categorised rather than providing the raw data.
