An anonymized dataset containing survey responses of 6808 adults, aged 16 or more years, in the General Population Cohort in Central Uganda. Longitudinal data was collected through bi-annual medical surveys to monitor trends in HIV epidemiology, and assess the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and associated factors. Variables include socio-demographic information, update of HPV Vaccination, knowledge of HIV, alcohol consumption, tobacco use, COVID-19 symptoms, the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on health service outcomes, anthropometric measurements, and HIV status.
Data was collected using an electronic questionnaire administered by experienced research assistants using encrypted and password-protected computer laptops after obtaining informed consent.
Data from computer laptops were synchronized onto the Unit Server, managed in the Access database, and subsequently exported to Stata 17.0 (Stata-Corp LLC College Station, TX, USA) for analysis.
Central Uganda
Data collection was conducted between June 2019 and July 2021.
The electronic questionnaire was designed with automated logic checks and skip patterns to minimize errors. At the end of each day, the data manager would perform quality checks on the collected data to identify any potential errors not detected by the automated verification process. Any identified queries were resolved by the respective research assistant/data collector before the data was transmitted to the central study database stored at the Unit Server.
Adult population (aged 16 or over) living in the General Population Cohort in Central Uganda.
Participants were identified only by a unique participant study and location number on study documents, consent forms and any electronic database. Documents that contain participants’ names such as informed consent forms were stored securely at the Unit Main Archive in Kyamulibwa with limited access. All servers where databases are stored are password protected with limited access.
