This qualitative dataset was produced as part of a study to understand the factors that contribute to high versus low availability of C-reactive protein point-of-care tests (CRP POCTs) in two countries with different levels of availability (the Netherlands and England), and to explore whether the tests are used on children. The dataset contains extracts from stakeholder interviews and document analysis performed in relation to these two countries.
We conducted a comparative qualitative analysis of the implementation of CRP POCTs in the Netherlands and England. These countries were selected because the availability of CRP POCTs in primary care is estimated to be 80% and 15%, respectively. Data were collected through document analysis and interviews of stakeholders. Documents were identified by a scoping literature review, search of websites, and through the stakeholders. Stakeholders were sampled purposively initially, and then by snowballing.
Documents:
Interviews:
The documents and interview transcripts were analysed thematically. The analysis was deductive based on the seven domains of the non-adoption, abandonment, spread, scale-up and sustainability framework:
Human population
The interview transcripts, the extracts collated in the matrix and presented in the manuscript were anonymised.
There was no anonymisation of the data obtained from documents because all documents are available in the public domain.
