Codebook

The files “codelist_cprd_all_cvd”, “codelist_hes_all_cvd”, and “codelist_opcs_all_cvd” contain all codes for cardiovascular disease in CPRD, HES and OPCS, respectively. The following variables are contained.

heart_failure	Heart failure, included only in CPRD and HES code lists
any_chd	Any coronary heart disease
any_cvd	Any cerebrovascular disease
any_pad	Any peripheral arterial disease
any_acs	Acute coronary syndrome
any_stroke	Stroke

Each variable is coded as follows:

Code label	Code description
0	The code indicates a history of the diagnosis.
1	The code is included in the variable definition as a definite diagnosis.
2	The code indicates a possible diagnosis.
Missing	The code is not included in the variable definition.
