Description

The 'Involving male partners in maternity care in Burkina Faso' randomized controlled trial sought to determine whether an intervention to involve male partners in maternity care of pregnant women influenced care-seeking, healthy breastfeeding and contraceptive practices after childbirth.

The study dataset brings together information collected during the baseline, 3-month postpartum follow-up, and 8-month postpartum follow-up interview, as well as process data on attendance at the three intervention sessions. Information on the study variables collected as part of the study are contained within this codebook

The full dataset contains information that may be used to re-identify study participants and, as a result, cannot be made openly available for ethical and legal reasons. However, researchers wishing to analyse the data for health research may apply to access a subset of the data. Applications will be handled as follows:

The applicant completes a data request form, providing details on the research that they wish to perform and the variables needed for the analysis. The exact variable name should be stated, as outlined in the document.
The application will be reviewed by a study data access committee and a decision made within 8 weeks
If the proposed use complies with the study ethical and legal agreements, the requester and/or other relevant parties will be asked to sign a Data Transfer Agreement outlining access and use conditions
Once signed, a refined dataset containing the requested variables will be generated. Additional de-identification techniques may be applied to reduce the risk of re-identification.
The applicant will be provided with a copy of the refined dataset
